25 Oct HOUSE MANUAL – where things are located in the home and how to use

Information for long stays:

-Auckland is a sub-tropical country so all homes need constant airflow to stop dampness and therefore smells. Please open windows/doors regularly to dry the home. Many of the windows have a setting that allows them to be slightly ajar for ventilation. Please leave laundry window slightly open as it’s naturally a damp environment,

-Bins are collected early Thursday morning, including the food waste bin. Feel free to use our outdoor compost as well located in the citrus garden. The food waste bin is collected weekly. The green rubbish bin is collected only when a bin tag is on it. If there is a public holiday, the bins are collected one day later.

KITCHEN 

The kitchen is very well equipped. There is an egg beater and even a food processor. 

STOVE 

The stove is induction. Once you have turned it on, slide your finger to the desired cooking  temperature from 1-14. The main power switch is on the wall to the left of the stove top.

Microwave: 

Please request a video from us if you can’t operate the microwave.

Oven: 

Please request a video from us if you can’t operate the microwave.

Coffee and tea:

Plunger coffee and tea is in a top drawer next to the near the kettle.

KIDS: 

Toys, drawing materials, paper and board games are in the lounge room. Also in TV cabinet draws. 

BABY:

Portacot and baby blankets are in the wardrobe of the middle bedroom upstairs.

BEDROOMS 

extra pillows ( different heights) and blankets are in each bedroom wardrobe.

LAUNDRY 

there is a washing machine and washing powder on the bench for your use. The clothes line is undercover on the back deck. There is also an indoor clothes rack and ironing board in the laundry.

EXTRAS 

• USB port under the kitchen bench where stools are.
• Fans in each bedroom
• Board games: under TV cabinet 
• Portable speaker : top drawer in kitchen 

*Fruit trees: enjoy the feijoas and citrus fruits when it’s the right season. 

BEACH ACCESS 

Path direct from property. There is a concrete path following the bush. You walk along side the neighbours home to access it. Don’t worry, it’s a shared path. Continue the concrete path and then veer off to the left into the bush. From there you’ll see the beach.

PADDLE BOARDS

there are two paddle boards and paddles stored under the main deck for use.

LOCAL WALKS

– a nice walk to the peer from the home via Hadfield beach/reserve.

– Charcoal Bay beach (looks like it’s closed, but it’s open!).

-Soldiers Bay beach

– A bush walk called Eskdale Reserve (5 minutes drive by car). So worth the drive!

RESTAURANTS 

– Mulan is wonderful for curries, stir-fries, veggies and noodle dishes.

– The Engine room – fine dining restaurant

– The Northcote Tavern in Northcote – pub style ambiance and food.

FERRIES: 

• you can take the local Beach Haven ferry (5 mins drive) or Birkenhead ferry to the city. The Beach Haven ferry even takes you across to Hobsonville to the local weekend market, cafes and brewery.

POWER OUTAGE

• If the power goes out there is a torch in the top drawer of the kitchen island bench. You will also need to switch the hot water back on. To do this you need to get a store and you will find a button high on the wall in the laundry Above the top cupboard. Make sure to set the water to 50 degrees otherwise you’ll have a cold shower. The hot water will be hot instantly.
